A word about SKIRTS IN THE COLD. Look, I understand what it means to be cold. And I understand what wearing skirts in the winter can mean: being cold. But like anything, my dear sisters, there's a right way and a wrong way to do it. That includes wearing skirts when it's cold.
- LAYER UP YOUR LEGS! I cannot stress this enough. Wear a pair of tights with your skirts for crying out loud. Wear two pairs. Wear three pairs. Keep layering them on until you have to go up in size if need be. You'll be snugly warm, I promise. I tried this and then I tried wearing some pants around the house just to compare, and I was much warmer in my skirts. Remember, tighter clothes are so much more thermal than loose clothing. That's one reason why those guys in desert regions of foreign countries are often seen in loose, long cotton clothing, because, even though it covers almost all their skin, it allows for breezes and air to freely pass and cool them down. So, several sets of snug base layers in the opposite of such climates will do the trick of keeping those legs warm like nothing else.
- BOOTS, BOOTS, BOOTS. Most of you are probably aware of this seasonal footwear trend (I'd be afraid if you weren't), but truly nothing keeps your feetsies, and even your legs, warmer than insulating boots. Flats and heels are pretty, but not as practical for seasons like the present.
